The Canadian Ski Marathon is North America’s longest and oldest Nordic ski tour. Unlike most ski events, there are no winners or losers in the Canadian Ski Marathon: it is not a race. The event offers something for everyone, regardless of age, endurance or ability. Tourers and families who ski less than the full distance make up about half the participants. Each skier can select his/her own level of challenge and try to achieve it. One can ski as little as 12 km or up to the maximum of 160 km over the weekend.

Looking for a fun and exhilarating new sport to try this summer? Join us for SUP Polo at the Trailhead Adventure Center! What is SUP Polo? Click here to watch a video of the newest craze in paddle board sports!
Banner_06

Games: 3 on 3 play of SUP Polo with each team allowed 1 substitute per half. Teams play (2) 7 minute halves with (1) 5 minute half-time where teams switch sides. If needed there will be a 5 minute overtime, followed by a shoot out, then a sudden death shoot out as needed. Each team will play two games per night! The 7 minute halves may seem short, but falling off and getting back on your board many times during the game will tire you out, it really is a workout!

What You Need: No SUP board? No problem! We supply all equipment needed to play the game, all you will need to bring is clothing that can get wet and a towel to dry off after … trust us you will fall in!

Teams: Teams are made up of 3 players with 1 substitute player. Due to the nature of the sport this year we are opening the league to individuals aged 19 years and older (at time of registration). We want our SUP Polo League to be an equal opportunity sport, so both genders must be represented on every team, male and female players must play in every game. Don’t have a team? Don’t worry we can help organize a team for you! Each team must appoint a captain to be the liaison with the Trailhead Adventure Center Staff.

One of the original 1976 founders of Trailhead and Black Feather, Wally Schaber, will be taking us on a trip through time to the historic Dumoine River Valley. The Riviere du Moine has been a favourite river trip for Trailhead and Black Feather clients for nearly five decades. Wally Schaber has been guiding on the Dumoine for that long and will bring into his talk pictures, personal anecdotes as well as stories from his detailed research about the First Nations, priests, traders, loggers, and sportsmen that paddled the river for 5000 years.

Please join us for this fun and informative evening of stories. Buy your copy of LAST OF THE WILD RIVERS at the store and Wally will autograph it dedicated to whomever you wish. Learn the latest on the efforts of CPAWS to gain permanent conservation status for the Dumoine, a wild river treasure.
