The Regen 17 loves week long river trips, with it's larger capacity and a little less rocker you will enjoy the flat water sections as much and the white water sections. Made from Armerlite so you will not be worried about hitting the odd rock along the way.
What is Armerlite?
Armerlite is a composite material composed of an interwoven glass fiber with polypropylene plastic. The material is layered in a canoe mold, vacuum bagged and cooked in a large oven where the polypropylene and fiber melt together to create a solid bond. The result is a very strong and abrasion resistant canoe. This may sound familiar to some of you, as Twin Tex. Armerlite and Twin Tex are not exactly the same. They do share the fact that they both are made of an interwoven glass fiber, and polypropylene; however Armerlite has a different weave and material composition ratio, a slightly different manufacturing process, and a different core in comparison to Twin Tex. Armerlite has created and perfected the best thermo composite material for making canoes on the market today, and have perfected the manufacturing process of this material over the course of 10 years in Germany.
“Armerlite has been tested and canoed in Europe for 10 years," said Jason Yarrington, Trailhead Canoes Co-Owner. “Kids camps and outfitters will now have a durable canoe material they can trust.”. “Paddling across the lake is just as enjoyable as running the river," said Trailhead Canoe manager Kevin Cook. “But it’s not just for kids camps and outfitters, all canoe paddlers will be happy with Armerlite durability."
